This year, I registered for the Komen Race for the Cure as a team leader because I wanted to encourage my students to take action and be More Than Pink™.
Several years ago, a dear friend and colleague of mine passed away after a brave battle with breast cancer. She was a person who took very little for herself and only wanted to see those around her shine.
I always believed that if you breast fed your children that you had extra protection against breast cancer, but my friend had shared her experiences with me when I was a new mother, so I knew that she had breast fed all four of her babies. It was a shock to me to think that I too might be at risk. I had always felt invincible.
Your support helps us get one step closer to a world without breast cancer. 75 percent of the money raised through the Race stays in the community to fund local breast cancer education, screening and treatment programs. The remaining 25 percent supports groundbreaking breast cancer research.
Will you please join me and Bak National Junior Honor Society students in this fight by making a donation today?
