This will be Team Paula’s third year to participate in the race and we have collectively raised over $2500 to support the Texarkana Area Komen foundation.
My dear friend Michelle (far left in the photo)founded Team Paula to show support in my breast cancer battle. This was a great event and I am proud that while I live in the Dallas area now, I can come “home” and support the local area I grew up in and raise money to support the many women (and men) who battle this disease. Since 75% of the funds raised stays here in the Texarkana area, we help support those in our local communities. I do sometimes participate in some of the events in Dallas, but I feel like a $1 goes a lot farther to support people in our area that don’t always have the same resources available in a bigger metropolitan area.
As for me, I am now a three year survivor and am doing awesome!!! I’m still taking an oral chemo medication but have finished all my iv port treatments. I also have a full head of hair again! This year I have decided that I might still wear my tiara to the race but I am NOT wearing a hat so I can celebrate having my real hair! I’m still working to regain my strength but that just takes a long time. I’m strong in faith, strong in spirit, so the body will just have to catch up! This Team has been a wonderful blessing to me and I love each and every one of you! I hope you will join me and Michelle this year and celebrate, honor and support all of those affected by cancer.
Go Team Paula!
