What am I doing?
I am participating in the 15th annual Susan G. Komen San Antonio Race for the CureŽ because I want to make a difference in the fight to end breast cancer. Please help me reach my fundraising goal by making your donation today!
Your Breast Health
The greatest risk factors for breast cancer are being female and growing older. Breast cancer knows no boundary, be it age, gender, socioeconomic status or geographic location. One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. That's one in eight within your company, school, church or organization. And men can get breast cancer, too!
The key to survival is early detection. Three simple steps for early detection are regular mammograms, clinical exams and knowing your body. And, remember, breast cancer affects more than just the patient; friends and family need support, too.
What does Komen San Antonio do?
In the 15 years we have been serving San Antonio, approximately $14 million has been invested in our community. Susan G. Komen for the Cure is an innovative leader in the breast cancer movement and the battle that threatens our mothers, daughters, wives, sisters and friends. Seventy-five percent of funds raised through events like Race for the Cure support local nonprofit programs providing vital breast cancer screening, treatment and education right here in San Antonio. The remaining 25 percent goes to Susan G. Komen for the Cure Grants Program to fund ground-breaking breast cancer research and scientific programs around the world. Historically, more than 100 percent of Komen San Antonio funds sent to Headquarters for research programs return to San Antonio in the form of research grants.
Imagine a world without breast cancer? I am asking for your support to make this a reality. No donation is too small, anything you can give is appreciated!
With your help, we WILL find a cure!
